This year’s European study abroad program is led by two Cronkite faculty:
Dr. Bill Silcock
Dr. Silcock is the director of Cronkite Global Initiatives and an associate professor at the Cronkite School.
Two Fulbright Awards (Sweden 1997, Ireland 1991), two decades in university classrooms and 25 years of award-winning professional experience in broadcast news firmly anchor Dr. Silcock’s identity as a scholar/teacher of media culture. Silcock’s qualitative research focuses on newsroom culture to deepen our understanding of how journalists, especially TV newscast producers, determine “what is news.”
Professor Susan Lisovicz
Susan Lisovicz has worked at major cable news networks, such as CNN and CNBC, as an on-air financial reporter, covering business stories such as diamond mining in South Africa, micro-lending in Bangladesh and the handover of the Panama Canal. She is best known for her frequent reports from Wall Street, which spanned the peak of the dot-com boom to the Great Recession.
